Floating down river,
WHAT I'M READING
THE HERE AND NOW- I got busy, so I'm still reading the same title as last week. I've done some science reading on the side, but very little else.
Which means I'm lagging a little behind in my YA Buccaneers Summer Reading Challenge. But hey, it's just for fun, so I'm not fussed. You can find out more about the Summer Reading Challenge Here.
WHAT I'M WRITING
I Finally sent ISIS out to CP's and Betas. (Much Rejoicing!) Now that I can tick that off my list, I can really start back in on LOVE AND OTHER CURIOSITIES and figure out how make the plot bunnies play nice.(mine are more like the rabbit in Monty Python's Holy Grail..."with large pointy teeth!") Also, who's bright idea was it to put a bunch of flashbacks in there?!! Oh yeah, mine.
- I've been helping Boy Chris out with his River Wildlife Surveys. One of the benefits of not having an Evil Day Job anymore is that if he calls up and says "Hey, do you want to go boating?", I can just say "Hells yes!" It's hard not to be inspired by that river. Sometimes it feels just like floating through a dream. Yesterday morning, a thunderstorm had just passed through and the light, the light was otherworldly! (There's no filter on that picture above.) The colors were so bright, that it feels like the beauty is etched upon my retina. And I felt like I was floating for hours even after we made it back to land.
- Hanging out with Manatees. We've been having some amazing manatee days out on the water. One curious manatee kept coming right up to our kayaks and nuzzling them with her nose. She followed us around for about 2 hours! We've been campaigning hard to save the manatees and their habitat, I wonder if somehow the manatees have gotten word of our efforts and just wanted to say "thanks". *grin*
