WHAT I'M READING

I haven't had much time for reading this week, but I realized I forgot to post my comments on WE WERE LIARS. (and I'm going to try and do so without spoilers) I can say that I thought this book was beautifully written and the way the characters were drawn was simply exquisite. I'd heard a lot of mixed reviews about this book and although there were some plot elements I wished were different,  I simply devoured the beautiful language.

WHAT I'M WRITING

This week has been so crazy busy that I've barely had time to breathe, let alone write. But I did get some amazing feedback from one of my CP's of Awesome who went through the whole book again after some major changes. So I've been going through those trying to see where I can tighten things up.

WHAT ELSE I'VE BEEN UP TO
  • Prepping for travel. I've got back-to-back trips scheduled for the next few weeks. (What was I thinking?!) Have backpack, loaded kindle and travel size everything. I think I'll survive.
  • Trying to get everything ready in time for Burning Man. My Etsy shop has simply exploded with Burning Man orders, but hey I get to make crazy things with antlers and fiber optic lights and feathers. (I'm in my happy place.)
WHAT INSPIRES ME RIGHT NOW

I want to make a Magic Forest for kids. ("You know, for kids!") One of the local park supervisors gave me blanket carte blanche permission to do anything I want, provided I don't burn the place down. So, in all my free time (chuckle), I'm dreaming and scheming a magical forest that will come alive at night for people (big & small) to walk through and be amazed. Who wants to fly down here and help me?

So far on the agenda we have:
  • Lighted fairy village with flying fairies
  • Will-o-wisps
  • White stag hologram
  • Pressure-activated glowing stepping stones
  • Trees that play music
  • Fireflies
  • Glowing mushroom garden
Open to other awesome ideas if you guys think of something that would be cool. :)

Fireflies Long Exposure- I found out you can order bulk native fireflies. Yay!

  1. Wow - sounds like you're going to be busy, busy, busy - how fun! I'm going to go search out your Burning Man. Sounds interesting.
As to the forest thing - so cool! The kids and I loved to visit those type of things in Europe. There, it usually meant 1-2 little 'dwarf' houses, a magical water spot (usually with a water pump or run or something), hidden gems (colorful crystals in a tiny cave or knot in a tree), fantastical carved faces or creatures in a peice of wood (or tree) and sometimes musical things like wooden xylophones or types of drums...oh, and some simple mechanism for sending msgs to each other. And there was often a bridge, rope swings...things where the kids had to get across. I could probably go on forever ;)
