The Joys of a Great Critique Partner
I love writing. I hate rewriting, and editing and rewriting again. I know I am not alone in this.
In fact, I have heard from countless other writers about how frustrating editing and rewrites can be. That's why it's nice to have someone in your corner. I'm speaking of course of Critique Partners. I put this in caps because in the background, you should be hearing the kind of ethereal trumpets that would sound in Monty Python's Holy Grail.
A good critique partner is worth their weight in gold. A great critique partner is like finding the Grail. Because not only do they know exactly what you are going through, they know how to make it fun. All that editing and rewriting doesn't seem quite so abhorrent, if you have someone to laugh with at your mistakes along the way. And instead of shunning your inbox, because you just don't have the stomach to see how many things you still need to fix before your MS sparkling, you will look forward opening your mail. Because if nothing else, you will undoubtedly start the morning out with a laugh.

ReplyDeleteHi Kris!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by my website - and great to see another fan of THE MAZE RUNNER series! :)
Hope you're doing well?
I love a great critique. I'll toss out entire chapters when someone has the guts to tell me what sucks and the grace to highlight a good line or two.
